Persevering with the vaccination drive in top gear, I feel, is the need of the hour. Whereas, night curfew in metro cities, prevents the spread of the virus, especially in places of entertainment, it also affects employment and loss of revenue for these establishments. Weekend lockdowns on the other hand, sends a strong message to the general public, that stronger measures will follow, if situation does not improve and is a preventive step to avoid the virus spreading in weekend crowded markets. Some reports were there in the news, that the available vaccines were not fully utilized; this and large gathering people for religious purpose and political rallies should be strictly prohibited. The judiciary has to take a strong stand for the welfare of the people. There is nothing as precious as human life, on the planet. Very well written Anil.

Dear Anil,

As you rightly say we have to make a balance between lives and livelihood. The large unorganized sector remains most vulnerable to these lockdowns and closures. They do not have a regular source of income and survive on daily wages. The govt schemes are good , but have yet to reach all and many loopholes in their implementation. The need of the hour is responsible behavior by all citizens and not to take this infection lightly.

Very True: β€œLife changes fast. Life changes in the instant. You sit down to dinner and life as you know it ends”. Be our best every minute and keep family / friends close.
