An excellent article on the complete transformation of the buisness of Sports!! A welcome change from politics. The way you have linked " Hamara Bajaj, Maruti 800 and Metro Rail to IPL is truly praiseworthy and reflects your deep insight and understanding of our complex economy!!

Surprisingly different, gripping and an excellent article 👏 👌 👍. Thought provoking, with insights and very informative. One aspect could be highlighted, is the participation of women in almost all the sporting disciplines. Who would have imagined that an Indian lady, almost clinched a medal in the Olympic games Golf competition or the women boxing team outshining their male compatriots in the same Olympic games. Looking forward to the Chess Olympaid being held in the country, with the emergence of a prodigy. Refreshing write up. Looking forward to next Monday Anil.

Dear Sir,

Best analysis.! Details with Graphics makes picture clear. Loved mentioning of Rahul Dravid & Abhinav Bindra for their insights for Indian Sports in their respective books.

But, I've some critics too regarding economical transformation of sport industry in India.

We are only focusing on IPL, It's auctions, Digital, TV media rights etc. And thus pushing word of transformation in Indian Sport Industry.

As you've already mentioned, For any sport the way to the wallet of sport lover always goes through his/her Heart. Since IPL was inaugurated (2008) after Indian team won T-20 world cup and remains at the peak for 4/5 years later.

I will be keen to mention MSD who probably remained at the centre of every Indian cricket event till date after 2007.

For some initial IPL moments there is hardly anyone on the streets while Semifinals and Final of IPL was going on.

The picture is different now.!

As the time has been flown...The viewership started to decline.!

Since people realised it's being quite show off of particular cricketing event.

Of Course, The Happiness moments was different when we won ICC 1983 WC, 2007-T-20 & 2011 WC.

The reason behind success of IPL lies in presence of some cricketers which are like God of cricket for fans across the country.!

But, Intense influence of money ONLY in an IPL made the difference for sport lovers in such a big country.!

Viewers OR cricket lovers realised that Other sports being ignored/neglected for financial returns as compared to IPL players.

Definitely, Other sport players & coaches got an appreciation directly from our Honorable PM.

But still financial aspects for them remains too much low as compared to IPL events (auctions of players, Media rights, Digital/Television rights etc).

And this is matter of concern for Me.!

Definitely, We are happy that IPL initiated the bloom of Indian Sport Industry BUT it must NOT remain only in the periphery of IPL cricket ground.!

It must broadened its role to grow OTHER SPORT INDUSTRIES, wages & respective financial aspects for them too.! Only then I will clap for sucess of IPL for contributing to our Country's sport business industry.!!

What an amazing piece with great insights Anil sir! As clearly pointed out its the mindset change that will head us forward. (Apart from that I feel specific concentration to talent pools needs to be done. As a point of example NE states is producing much more of MMA athletes and KL once used to be the land of shining athletes on track events.Just a random thought that clicked in 😀)

As always, very detailed, informative, and wonderfully expressed.

As is the case with every aspect of life and our existence. There are always two sides.

As the stakes get bigger and bigger, so does the murkier world of betting and all other not so positives to the world of sport and entertainment. Hopefully, the cleaner parts will outshine the rest. That is the desire of every sane cricket enthusiast.
